To the Guests who have decided to register for Membership. PLEASE read Terms of Service, not just checking it off. This is covered there: Add more info than just "hunting" or "Upland hunting" or "birds" or "outdoors" or similar nebulous terms in the required INTERESTS field. Despite this Boards strong spam filtering function, some Spam registrations do sneak through. I need an inkling that you are a human being not a Spam Bot tagging onto key words. Also please do not use a business name as your User Name. Thank you.

I'll be interested to hear if the dense pattern theory gives you more dead on the ground wc Larry.

One year I was smashing clays with a few boxes of #9 that they were giving out at a fund raiser shoot so I took them into the woods that Fall. I never had so many head up woodcock before. That is about the worst for me, can't stand to have that little dark eye look at me as I dispatch them.

Moral of the story, I went the other way ever since, that season started me on my bigger shot is better kick about 8 years ago.

Larry, you of all people should have a better solution--get a grouse and woodcock gun!

Bosco, I actually have a couple with more open chokes.  Both also slightly lighter.  But I shot quite well with this one . . . although I'll probably use both of the others next season as well.

Scott, I've used 8 1/2's, and occasionally even 9's, early season in a 28ga.  Somewhat tighter choke than what I get with spreaders, but then I'll also have another 1/8 oz of pellets in the 20ga.

I'm just glad when one of my pellets hits a bird.

And it dies.
