What do you do?

I am currently in-between gigs.  For the last 7 years I had been a stay at home dad/homemaker.  Currently, both my kids go to Kansas State U.  Going thru the Big D right now, and because I was the stay at home dad/homemaker, I am going to get a monthly payment from my wife for life, not a lot of money, but could get by and just hunt and fish if I wanted to live on the road, which I am considering.

I am being considered for a position as an Operations Manager for a Vineyard.

Also considering starting up a small business as a handyman/gigilo.  My slogan will be, "I will always show up on time, and I may take my time doing the job, but I will always finish the job."   :D

Got a call yesterday from the folks that are starting the Vineyard, looks like they are going to make me an offer of employment Friday.  Mixed emotions, Hell ya I need a Job.  My wife is divorcing me and cutting me off, money wise that is.  Hopefully this will not cut into my bird hunting but I got a bad feeling.

Best of luck to you.

KBD--Good luck with that.  You are aware of when vineyards typically harvest their grapes, yes?

At least you can drown your non-hunting sorrows in wine.

Professional antagonist.

In my spare time, I represent the forces of good against the forces of evil. 3+ years ago the forces of evil won. I'm hoping for a little redemption this time around.

AMEN!

The forces of good offerings look very meek at best.

I believe that being retarded is a requirement if you're going to hang out with that gang of miscreants!  :D

Sales.

You left so much out!

I do exactly the same thing Valuman does...sales.   I studied snow in college (really).  I was a rock and ice climbing guide for a number years and worked all over the US and Canada as well as a few other continents.  Got sick of living out of my van with no prospect for a raise--ever...and ever since have been clawing my way to middle management at the US subsidiary of a company that manufactures exorbitantly expensive safety equipment for people who climb big rocks, outsized icicles, giant mountains, or ski back down them.  They say these are "lifestyle" activities in that people who do these things identify themselves as such...it's part of who they are, not just what they do--much like chronic bird hunters.  As such, the last few years have been OK in my industry.  It is still a job, but every once in a while I get a milk run and wind up climbing a 500' tall tower in the Utah desert or going heli-skiing in Alaska on the clock, and I work almost exclusively with people like me for whom these things are a passion.  Life could be a lot worse.

Psychiatric Nursing Unit Mgr: Admissions

State Employee

~8 weeks off yearly. Approved extended leave up to 5 weeks.

Good gig.

Used to work evening shift. Would hunt, fish or golf before going in just about every day back then. Felt retired being that all my buds were at that time. Got married, fathered child, moved to day shift.

You need to move to DC. They've MUCH bigger psycho problems than where you are!
