This Poll is very general and only an exercise in gauging interest in a UJ Fall Retreat in Northeast Maine, specifically at Weatherbys Sporting Lodge in Grand Lake Stream, Maine. I own a camp close by and know the owner Jeff, we spoke recently about the possibility of reserving some cabins and conducting a 3-4 day UJ Retreat in October.

This is only in the thought stage right now, but feasibly we could reserve X amount of cabins for X amount of UJ Members. We could maybe arrange some seminars by Members for GPS collar training, dog training, gun fitting, Gear reviews etc., etc. I don't know if there are any clay shooting venues close by but will check. Worst case is Im sure we can find an area for clay throwers, etc.

And frankly, I would really like this to be very casual and more centered on socializing, actual bird hunting etc., rather than the emphasis being on shooting like other UJ Get Togethers. There is a load of accessible land so finding areas to run dogs and hunt for ruffed grouse and woodcock shouldn't be a problem. (As long as everyone stays away from my camp :<img src=:'> )

AGAIN, I CAN'T QUOTE THE COSTS YET OR THE ACTUAL ARRANGEMENTS OR HOW BOOKED UP WEATHERBY'S IS AT THIS POINT.

Finding them on a map and getting travel distances is just a Google away:

Weatherby’s Resort

112 Milford Road

Grand Lake Stream, ME 04668

sounds interesting...

I don't know if I'd bother with shooting/clays .. or some of the more techy "siminars"  things at a bird camp.. maybe something before the season started for that stuff...

basic gun fit.. and quick techy/gear  conversations should be easy before/during cocktail hour...

Concur Tim.

We may be able to secure a few guides as well if anyone wants that.

The Pine Tree Store at Grand Lake Stream is within walking distance, but it would probably be worth planning on bringing a supply with you.  I couldn't do the whole thing, but might be able to bomb up Friday night after school if it extends into a Saturday.

The food at Weatherby's is fantastic, and the atmosphere in the main lodge is unbeatable. This could very easily be turned into a cast and blast, Grand Lake stream has some incredible fall landlocked salmon fishing.

Cause season is open I only miss birds.   I stop missing clays in late september.

Sounds interesting Brad.   The gun fitting thing will eliminate some of the excuses ... not the best idea.

Some after hours seminar suggestions

"How Blame the dog for the lost bird when you clearly squared it"

"My hero shots from from the other camp"

"Why your dog should be named after an equipment supplier"

"Vacuum sealers are not just for underwear anymore."

If PC graces he could run a course on "Disposal of last weekends evidence - bring your own lime"

If there is a medical clinic nearby maybe we could get a deal on group dialysis services...a mobile unit that moonlights would be preferable...

Yep sounds like this has potential...jut don't make it early October...my daughter just got engaged and she is hell bent on getting married this October 4th...after 5 years what's the freakin rush

Interesting for sure. However no idea at this time if I would be able to attend.

I can confirm that Jeff and Beth run a nice camp and feed you we'll.  Been a few years since I was there, maybe it is about time for a return visit.

Depends on whether or not the pointy guys can handle getting shown up by the flushy guys.
