The food at Weatherby's is fantastic, and the atmosphere in the main lodge is unbeatable. This could very easily be turned into a cast and blast, Grand Lake stream has some incredible fall landlocked salmon fishing.

Don't forget Big Lake.....some serious smallies in there!

Ditto the St. Croix River flowage. Dynamite on bass bugs the 3rd week of June.  Ditto on the stream; some beautiful water there.

Weatherby's was great when the Sassi's (sp) owned it. LUVed our vacations up there when we lived in the East.

Sounds like the traditions of an iconic "Maine Sporting Camp" have been carried forward nicely.

Why did my kid have to choose to go to university?? I mean, she is already amazingly smart, does she just want to babble intelligently?

I voted yes, LD and I were considering a NE trip next fall. But only if Timmy's hounds are broken.  :p

Depends on whether or not the pointy guys can handle getting shown up by the flushy guys.

Would not bother me one bit. I would actually enjoy it, and I have some spots tailer made for a top notch flusher.

I think Jen is mourning the loss of any fun money available to attend such an event...a kid at school is one big money pit...sorry Jen...short term pain long term gain.

By the second week of October I will have already missed a weekend of grouse hunting for my nephews wedding, so I will respectfully decline the opportunity to talk about grouse hunting and gear and rather spend the time doing it.

I would be very interested.  We hunted central Maine late October last year and had a great time.

If this came together I envision it being primarally a grouse and woodcock "hunting" retreat as I wrote in original post. Those who want to sit around and pontificate during the day can, those who want to be in the woods hunting can, those who want to fish can, etc. Off hunting hours in evening and night would be for BSing, eating, drinking and possibly some seminars or sessions on miss upland stuff.

Naturally, this area would be unfamiliar to most attending, but there may be guides available and otherwise all you need up there is some maps, a GPS and then have at it.
