Words to live by....Or drink to...

I'm a Texan.  We are eat plumb up with words of wisdom.

Never try to teach a pig to sing.  It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

Small change can usually be found under seat cushions.

Always cut the cards.

In the USAF we were always told: "Speed is Life" and "Where there are things to eat, there are things to eat them."

From a friend's dad one day when he took us hunting:

"Never step on anything you can step over and never step over anything you can step around".

And this tidbit that probably everyone is familiar with but true just the same:

If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!

Ones I have kinda lived by......

"Ask. The worst they can say is No".

"You can't always get a-what you want

No, no baby,

You can't always get a-what you want.

Tellin' you right now,

You can't always get what you want!

But if you try sometimes you just might find

You just might find, that you

Get what you need" Mick Jagger

And this one gave me an incredibly rewarding career and lifetime friends who are like brothers...........

"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." JFK 1-20-1961

No idea who said it:

There are two types of people in the world. People that want to BE something and people that want to DO something. Which type are you?

I want to do something.

My dad's response to kids always wanting things:

Wish in one hand crap in the other...Get back to me on which fills up first! :D

My truthful saying:

I'm so forgetful I can hide my own Easter Eggs!

I quoted these words some years back here on UJ but I'll do it again as it directly relates to the topic of this thread and we have many new members.

This was told by the late actor Barry Fitzgerald, I believe on the Merv Griffin Show. It was as is this thread, simply "words to live by".

<"Make an honest living, give a day's work for a day's pay.

Remember those less fortunate for there but by God's grace go you.

Always try to conduct yourself as a gentleman remembering that foremost a gentleman is just that, a Gentle man. A brute is little more than a base animal.

Be good to your Mother.

Do all this and you can stand toe to toe with any man who draws breath as an equal - and spit in his eye!">

:D  The Irish!, God help me I love em!

You can tell a lot about a woman's mood just by her hands..

For instance, if they are holding a gun, she's probably angry.!

I'm fond of throwing that one at my children, in the form of , "There are doers and there are talkers.  Be a doer."
