I do a lot of research with TT. This number needs to be considered in the proper context. I think this number has since been revised and represents the cost per harvested bird. Given that most of the plantations don't harvest that much relative to what they could, this number should come with caveats. For example, if more birds were harvested the cost per bird would go down dramatically. Moreover, this number assumes all satisfaction is obtained from the bird itself when most of us would say that there is a lot more to quail hunting that killing the birds (e.g., dogs, friends afield, etc.). 


However, there is no question that quail management in the temperate south is expensive because we are always fighting succession.
