TO THOSE REGISTERING FOR MEMBERSHIP ON UJ   01/06/2018

To the Guests who have decided to register for Membership. PLEASE read Terms of Service, not just checking it off. This is covered there: Add more info than just "hunting" or "Upland hunting" or "birds" or "outdoors" or similar nebulous terms in the required INTERESTS field. Despite this Boards strong spam filtering function, some Spam registrations do sneak through. I need an inkling that you are a human being not a Spam Bot tagging onto key words. Also please do not use a business name as your User Name. Thank you.

Steel and clays

Yeah ... conventional wisdom says steel will tighten up a pattern, which would account for the breaks.  But I haven't seen anything that suggests I'm giving up much effectiveness on short- to mid-range targets as a result.  I'd rather not rely on the loose fringes of the pattern anyway regardless of the shot used.  Center the target, and it'll break.

Any one reloading steel? Target, hunting loads? What volume levels are being reloaded 100- 500 per week?

You might try asking on the trapshooters.com forum ... I know that the trap club in Naperville, IL, requires steel and there are guys on that board who shoot there and reload.

Perhaps I missed it but did you have to change chokes to offset the change in the performance of steel loads?

Nope.  I shot Modified choke, same as I do with lead.

Good to see you around here.
