Tarpon Pics

A few tarpon pictures from this past spring.

Over all it was a very difficult year. So much more wind and clouds than usual made for tough fishing.

It can't be perfect all the time.

The second and the last pictures are larger fish. Fish in the second pic was about 140#. You can also see the small tan fly in both those shots.

Yowza!

Nothing in my experience is as exciting as sight fishing for giant tarpon!!!

Look on the bright side, Dave.  The conditions this past season might mean that this coming season there are a few less well-educated fish!

Cool pics.  I've never been tarpon fishing even though I live on the west coast of FL.  Maybe I should try it?

Thanks for those DTB, brings back fond memories. I spent a lot of time hunting those with a flyrod around Homosassa and they are fun for about 15 mins, and then the pains starts. I liken it to catching a car and I don't intentionally ever want to bring one to boatside again. I try to  break em off quick LOL

DTB-  great to see your  fishing.  We got into tarpon with bait only this past June.  Fly fihsing was near impossible. Hope all is well post hurricane.  I still think of your sweet litte pup.  Take care

Being on the wrong coast there are two kinds of fishing I would like to try-tarpon and bone fishing.  At least similar to bone fishing we have corbina here that you have to sight fish.
