Have a Fritz granddaughter  but she is My wild child.

Last weekend of hunting season and had some warmer weather. Thought that maybe the ice had melted. Went up there and still a sheet of ice. Couldn't get in again this weekend. Hunted down lower. Not a lot of birds but any day out is a good day.20180112_133741.jpg

Well done. Snow made it tough along the Mighty C today.

Had a swift morning hunt with the family Saturday before we all had to run off to the  Nevada Chukar Foundation Dinner. We were running late so didn’t get many any good pictures but I did take my wife’s house dog out and she never ceases to impress me. 1.) she brought back a bonus bird I never saw fall. 2.) she started honoring points

I also shot the Weatherby Side by side Weatherby my dad got me as a graduation present that never seemed to fit me and shot it well. Felt great since he was there.

Funny how how sometimes things you take for granted make you so very happy. Both need to make it out more often. I was so pleased with both I didnt notice my younger brother had a limit and I didn’t. Haha.

Good little morning hunt. Starting to like the barrels going the other way.

Shaming abuse from your own dog.  Had my share of that this season.

Scrappy

We have had some decent success in the chukar hills the past couple of weekends.  Here's some pics.

Scrappy and my A-5 Light Twenty.  800 ft. drop to valley floor:

Scrappy with the double retrieve.  We had knocked down three birds and Scrappy was retrieving one on the way back to me, when one of the other "dead" birds took off through the sagebrush at 90 mph trying to make it to the rimrock.  Without dropping the original bird, Scrappy ran down the live bird and brought them both to me.  Usually I want her to complete her original retrieve, but in this case it saved us a bird:

My dad's first chukars.  He turns 75 yo in two weeks and can still out-hike many people thirty years younger:
