      WELCOME NEW UJ MEMBERS   06/25/2017

It seems the word is out and UJ is enjoying a steady stream of newly Registered Members. Welcome to all of you, and we are all looking forward to your positive participation. I strongly suggest you review the Board Guidelines that have been in place since 2002. The most significant thing being that UJ is a NO POLITICS BOARD. LInk:  UJ BOARD GUIDELINES   Also UJ stays afloat mainly through Member Donations. Once a Donation is made you are placed in the Contributing Member Group with extra Priviliges. I am getting very few new Donations so hopefully this will spur that on a bit. Link:  New Members/Donations/Priviliges

Ok,

last second idea. I have a bunch of vaca time to burn but only limited dates to do it. I have dec 19-23  off ( including flying or driving)  but would love to get a trip/ experience in in those days. Any ideas? Uj experience would be cool, but if I have to go with an outfitter , that’d Be fine too.  Im 42, have decent stamina but need a hip replacement , ( I can power through a lot of pain) but my chukar days are gone. Any ideas?

This is a crapshoot, just seeing if anything may be worth a trip

If you could afford it I'd say fly to Phoenix or ABQ and hunt quail with a guide.  Otherwise I'd second the suggestion of pheasants in SD.  There won't be much competition that time of year and there are still enough birds around to make it interesting.

If it were me, I'd think about an outfitted duck hunt somewhere down south (Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas).

You don't even need to go that far south.  Lots of birds along the Mississippi River in Illinois right now.  Check out the Heartland Lodge for a guided duck hunt.  Or, if you want to go South, check out Grosse Savanne in Lake Charles, LA.

I've hunted with the Grosse Savanne folks.  Great experience.

Get out with my buddy Pat Flannigan! He's down in AZ, you'd have a blast. It'd be a guided hunt but with Pat at least you know it's authentic. We were supposed to record a podcast last night but he was too busy hoofing through the desert dialing in more covers!
