They're as rare as true blacks in our area, but my parties have shot a very few Mexican Mallards over the years here in Southwest Louisiana, as well.  I can't post photos on this site, but they are darker than motteds, more like a black/mottled cross, only with two very distinct mallard-like white speculum bars.
