Upland Sculpins

Sat down at the vice tonight and tied a #4 sculpin pattern changing the dorsal and pectoral fin feathers with different upland birds, interesting how the look changed.

Might be onto something with the hen ogre or woodcock.  Not far off imitations

That's a nice collection of organic flies.  I would be very satisfying to land a fish on each of those, especially since you harvested the material yourself.

those look good!

I like the ones tied with grouse and hun.

Bet they would work great for smallmouths

Did you weight hook?

I weight with a few turns of lead wire  but often use a couple small split shot to the leader to get it down faster.  It is a great smallmouth and trout pattern.

Beautiful ties! I like to use Sage Grouse feathers on My Tricos,  not because they are more effective but just because I can.
