Turkey Hunting Tips       Part 5

Recommended Posts

Michael Stenstrom

From my observations turkeys like to use roads like we do.  To make getting from point A to point B easier and safer.  The toms seem to like breaking into strut in the road because they are visable from a long way in two directions.  However they do not seem to make the roads a primary strut zones. They prefer areas with even greater visability than a roadway.

For example the turkeys I was tracking yesterday would break into strut about every 30 to 6o yards.  He never stayed in any of the strut spots for long.  If a bird used the same road every day, or several times a day, he would leave a lot of strut sign, even though he was only on that  stretch of road for a couple of minutes a day.
