Botched spay?

Recommended Posts

Urban_Redneck

I had my pup spayed in December after 2 false pregnancies. The past few days she's driving me nuts with whining, collecting toys, and nesting.

A week after spaying, the vet that spayed her abruptly changed a vacation in Costa Rica into retirement down there. In January, I took her to the new vet because it looked to me her cooter was a bit swollen , swabs were tested to rule out  infection, no blood was noted- I never saw a drop during the previous heats. The vet said "it's normal for the cooter not to tighten up to what it was pre-heat". Alternatively, "if a piece of tissue was missed during the spay, it could trigger heat like symptoms." Exploratory/revision surgery to find and excise the tissue was the only remedy she offered.

Anyone ever heard of something like this?

It happens.  Might want to check a LH hormone level first.

Can the test be administered at any time or is there a particular window?

Any time.  Ultimately it's a surgical fix.
