Ivy being spayed on 8/3

Recommended Posts

BlacknTan

We went for pre-surgical work-ups this morning. She is probably not far from another estrus cycle, and her first season fast approaching.. so it seems to be the correct time.

I've been through it before, and I'm well aware that it's a routine procedure... but, Friday is going to be a loooong day for us.

I guess I'm just a big wus...

Ivy will be fine.  You on the other hand better get some sedatives. 😉

My Brit was spayed couple of weeks ago the first day after she was nauseous and puked a couple of times, day two she took a easy by day three she was playing.  The hardest part was keeping her calm until the doc cleared her to run.

She’ll be fine but I understand your worries!

Did it about 9 months ago on my ES. Worse part part was keeping my male away from her. They play all the time and he didn't understand the attitude. She healed beautifully and not having any interest in breeding her it was a decision I would easily make again.

Update..

Dropped Ivy off at 9 AM for the spay. Come home. 15 minutes later, get call from Vet that Ivy tested positive for Anaplasma. Jump in the car, Go get Ivy, who is rescheduled for 8/17 after two weeks of antibiotics..

Thanks for all the good thoughts...

Ivy is not symptomatic. Were it not for the pre spay routine, we would not have known until the Fall with her regular check-up. We have dealt with tick borne diseases with all the dogs... I wish it were avoidable, but it is not. She has Advantix ll applied every three weeks, but 100% control is, unfortunately impossible...

We'll treat her, spay her and move on..

Thanks again.
