Scott G2 8’8” 4 wt

Recommended Posts

I ended up trading a rod and getting a Scott G2 8’8” 4 wt.   Anyone throw one or have thoughts?   This will primarily be my dry fly rod.    The rod I traded had a much faster action and I found I had trouble making delicate presentations with it.

I've g0t a 8'6" 4 wt Scott A series.  Not as nice as the G series obviously but still one of, if not my favorite all around rod for smaller streams.  I think you'll be happy with it.

I learned to cast with a G2 4wt.  They're great if you like a slower rod.

That is a very nice rod, it should work great throwing dries!

I have one in a 3 weight that’s similar and it’s fantastic.  Enjoy

Good rod. Remember that SLOWER = more control of the line and fly.

Yup---That is never so obvious comparing a Sage XP 6wt tossing big bugs in big Montana waters to a slow action soft tip bamboo in gentler water.

Float vs. Slam

I am excited to get out and give this rod a go.   Been trying to find where the closest realistic trout fishing would be south of Minnesota after grouse season comes to an end.   My desire to ice fish is not there anymore.

I used to winter trout fish quite a bit in NE Iowa, lots of areas near Decorah.
