Totes Unloaded

Recommended Posts

john mcg

Three more totes stuffed or semi-stuffed with odds and end for hunting, dogs and fishing....stuff put where it can be got at and mebbe remembered when needed. The western migration made for a whole bunch of them stuck in the attic.

Doggie flak jackets, bird bags, cleaning stuff, backing, waxed pants, tins of wax, bells, a set of Trulock extended chokes for gun gone, leads, odd shells and a big chunk of beeswax, mosquito gear and camo....dang even a duck call I forgot I had. May have to call a duck after all.

Stuff like that.

Gives a sense of 'the world is right'.

When I mentioned to Toni my pleasure at the exercise she said, "you won't have to buy anything".

I nearly said something, but choked it down.

My wife is appalled at the accumulation of gear I have made over our marriage. I treat guns and fishing rods like golf clubs. Who can play a round with just one! Besides, as soon as you let something go, for sure you will need it!

One upside to my shop setup is that I can have an area to store most of it in the exact same place year round.

Somehow I still manage to lose stuff that needs replaced every year...

I am a minimalist: Cabelas hoodie, jeans, Irishsetter Upland boots, 3 guns and ammo for 3 guns. Oh yeah, orange gear for deer hunting.

Minimalist, I'll say, your dogs don't even wear collars.

There are professionals who can cure you of that. No reason to feel ashamed....

Yup---we have been simplifying over the last few years and I have sold a lot of stuff. Guns, rods, gear, boats (closed and open) and tools.

The thing is over several decades, I have been involved in multiple outdoor activities and I believe that good gear is worth spending on.

I'm not done with the process of prioritizing as I conclude what I will spend the coming years doing and not doing due to available resources, physical ability and access.

I really should make another list of things to unload and even put some of it on UJ.

Multiple tents---hell one is a very high end Marmot high altitude type mountaineering tent--hardly used, a $4000 mountain bike. I'll keep the fat bike, but my shoulders and elbows make riding in the way I love--untenable.

Never mind---I'm whining.

LOL
