Back in Ohio they said that Congress was half way between Blue Ball and Climax.  I never checked the map.

Is there a cut off year for head gasket issues?

in my sad experience it happens before 150k. still i'd wonder why anyone changing water pump wouldn't do the head gasket. Such a common combination that both can be fixed at a competant shop around here for $1200.

My mechanic advised me to walk away from a Forester with 206k miles (that needed head gasket and water pump at 140K). It had an engine warning light that was caused by a vacuum leak he said would be $ to find.

So to address the original question I think expecting another 40000 miles would be on the edge.

wITH THAT # OF MILES you can figure on needing the af & o2 sensors (pre cat & post cat.) soon.

Check engine lite - emission issues.

Just went thru that on our OutBack at 153 Kmiles. Sensors were $300.00.

2010 OutBack

Replaced myself & reset computer & good to go. Dealer wanted $650.00 for parts & labor for the job.
