Ok I will start.  Saturday was the Oregon opener.  My young dog pilot (21 weeks) found the first dead bird (not hard it fell dead right by the side by side.).  The second bird was a wounded bird find ten minutes after it was shot.  The picture is shortly after the recovery.

Oh those buhrd dogs. I love hunting wild pheasants in wide open spaces. That is what I grew up on in Southern Michigan many years ago. Good for you bunch!

We’re getting to head out west for a week to ND.

High time somebody started a rooster thread!!  (and nice looking dogs)

I thought to head west river for the Sat. opener but the snow forecast will put me local for a few extra days. Plenty of time

Getting ready here in SD. Not sure at all what this fall will be like but I'm sure we will find a few.

Mixed bag yesterday. Ten years ago we would have had 6 roosters and one Turkey today hunting the same ground it’s just the opposite....not sure why.

Because turkeys take over and can live about anywhere.

Opener was just a hike with a dog after finding out the spot I planned to hunt was taken out of block management.

This morning was a hike with a different dog and similar results, except I shot at and missed two roosters.  I have some good excuses though.......really.  I blame you jokers mostly,  you pressured me into carrying this o/u 20 ga instead of my usual 12 autoloader.  I fumbled the safety on the first thenended up with my trigger finger behind the trigger tugging on the guard.....muscle memory can be hell in some cases.  The second was a low flusher and I couldn't shoot when I wanted due to Finn's big noggin.  I didn't do so well trying to catch back up when he finally cut left.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

At least I'm not at work and today was a nice sunrise.
