My wife needs a mini-van.

I've noticed during the past few years that it has become increasingly more difficult to tell mini vans from SUVs. My suggestion is to do the right thing... Cheat, lie, and get an SUV!  :<img src=:'>

Don't sweat it man. Been there, agonized over that. We (I) broke down and got a 2004 Odyssey for the wife. Very comfortable, good mileage (27 mpegs), can hold lots of stuff (including two large vari-kennels side-by-side...hint), great reliability.

If you consider Ody first read up on the owner's club for info:

Ody Club

and try to stay away from the models before '02 due to potential tranny problems.

Then, once you buy one, do what I did - buy a pickup for yourself.

Unless Vic and Ramona move in next door soon Earl, you better forget the squirrels and hit the road.

Alright, alright....settle down those of you who equate this to a loss of my juevos.

THIS is MY car:

At a shade over 130K miles it will continue to be for a few more years.  Then I'm going to get a pickup.  So take it easy.

Betsy likes the Odysseys but they might be out of our range - even used.  We're a one income family for the indefinite future in a state where the cost of living is off the charts.  So if I were to look at a domestic, what are the best choices?

one of my girlfriends has one of the new Ford minivans, and she loves it, even brings it to the field for training days.  And to show you how much I know about this car I can tell you that it comes in gunmetal grey, which is super cool.  She likes it and it does well off road (where our training field is).  Not much data, but it's a girl thang.  Go for the gunmetal grey color, that's not girly.

See.  There you go Scratch.  No worries that you’ll be considered any less of a man due to your vehicle.

Take it from a Honda Civic owner, the measure of a man is in no way dependent upon what kind of vehicle he drives.  :<img src=:'>

I've heard that a guy who would drive a mini-van would carry his shotgun shells around in a purse........I don't believe it of course.

I hate to say this but I will.  When the VW died, I got a Volvo wagon.  I have thought about posting on volvo's site phots of the Volvo toting a duck boat, dead birds and guns....  Soccer mom by a$$!

Seriously though, Honda = bullet proof.  Toyota too.  I did see on 60 min, though that many of the minivans do not do well in crash tests.  As this was a concern I would look at consumer reports to see wich ones we best.

Ever notice that the "men" who say this are always the guys driving Civics and minivans.   :D  :D  :D

Well....an anonymous friend and member of this board offered me this encouragement by PM.

"Mini-vans and vasectomies.  Get 'em both and you can go parking and have wild sex in comfort while the babysitter's home with the young one. Trust me... "

SO THERE!

Get a pick-up with one of those fiberglass bed lids and toss a cheap matress in there. No baby sitter needed and my little brat stays in there for hours in the driveway. She calls it her coffen. Just remember to get silver or white.

Scratch I didn't know you sold all your hunting stuff to be a mini van driving soccer Dad.  I see more trips to Bed Bath and Beyond, and Home Depot in your future.   :<img src=:'>  I'm sorry I shouldn't bust your boys as they just got snipped. Whoops :p  lol didn't mean to go there.. I'm sorry really I am, I'm sure your lab will make a nice transition from the grouse woods to running around the soccer fields trying to flush the kids.. ok ok no more just make sure you yell pull when you shoot the soccer balls w/ your Merkel.  Somebody stop me!...

(Really I'm just having fun)

Lets come up w/ some personalized plates to go w/ the Mini Van.
