And I stand corrected the trade is to be scrapped.  So the recycling business makes money, not the used car market.

Really? What happens to a market that gets flooded with resource (Scrap steel) when there is low demand for it's product (steel)?

I understand that you have to start somewhere, but is the return on investment here worth it? How many billion to reduce emissions by how much?

I still think that there are many more effective ways to spend our money that will/would have far better effects. I hope the program does some good and fulfills it's goals. We'll just have to wait and see if that is the case.

And here is the crux.

One side wants it to work, offers solutions and tries.  The other gets on the press denigrates the other's actions and offers no opposing ideas.  That is about as chicken sh!t as it gets.

Yup, that's the group for me.  I want to align with the pissing and moaning.  I don't want alternatives, I don't want to try, I want to say how the efforts of someone else will not work.  Please, how is that useful?

I would love to see all the nay-sayers come up with an alternative.  I am not sure this is the best way, but at least someone is trying.  The opposition, they have nothing, just "no".  Nothing but negative speaking points.  Who wants that?

Me actually! I would be happier if the government literally did nothing about our "problems". Get the government the F out of my life in as many ways as possible. I don't want nor need the governments "help". It's "helped" enough already.

You seem to think Government and it programs are the solutions, some of us, including myself think government "help" is a huge part of the problem.

You got a job, right?  :<img src=:'>

Actually, the government can help... they can regulate the banking industry better than they did.

History has a pretty good track record of what works and what doesn't. (with the benefit of hindsight of the unwanted effects)

One side wants it to work, offers solutions and tries.  The other gets on the press denigrates the other's actions and offers no opposing ideas.  That is about as chicken sh!t as it gets.

Do your own homework and don't call me names.

I think I made it pretty clear that there are other proven methods to stimulate an economy. Giving away money to people to intice them to further increase their personal debt load isn't one of them. I purposefully didn't drag out a list of alternatives, because we were talking about this specific program and its merits or lack there of. Perhaps if you were to listen to Beck,Limbaugh Oreilly et al, you may find that they have offered alternatives (of which you may or may not agree with), but that would require getting past your own bias. Don't assume that others share the same affliction. I have listened to the proposal (and am required to pay for it) and don't agree with for many reasons, some of which have been discussed here.

And please, lets be civil here and leave the name calling to the playground. Makes it hard to respect your opinion when you wrap it in an insult.

Actually, if the government stayed out of the mortgage business the banks would be much better off.

Some things cannot be taught at any price. The only way they are learned is by a long and painful ordeal at the hands of some very sadistic teachers......................
