The Rangers were essentially playing with four defenseman all game. I couldnt stay up to see the third period of overtime ! !

Im just glad they won this game....and regained "home ice".

Gaborik hadnt scored since game 1 with Ottawa.

Wow! Am I ever off base with St. Louis!! I just don't understand the outcomes...how a good team like that cannot win one game out of three, after being one of the top teams in the whole league during the season. Maybe it's true that Hitchcock can't squeeze any more out of the team with his coaching and that they are a non-playoff team as their early season trajectory had indicated. ???

No Kidding Ben.  I think that Elliot has fallen back to reality and now the whole team behind the 8-ball is frustrated and making big mistakes.

Brodeur may be old....but he had enough in the tank last night to give the Devils the win. Another crazy OT game in the eastern conference.

I think the Blues have hit the wall.  Shame, i seen them going further but after Petrangelo got stuffed in to the boards and hurt it seemed to have taken the wind out of their sails.

Who woulda thunk it? LA sweeps the Blues after booting the Canucks...the top two teams in the west. I am a believer.

The Caps are going to give me a heart attack. I guess it is a mirror of their season. They really didn't deserve to win last night. The Rangers outplayed them. I guess(hope) we are going to 7 again. It does make for some compelling games to watch.

On another note, I know this might be a little mean spirited, but can someone shoot a puck and wipe that damn smirk off of Tortella's face. What an *****.

I don't care what team you root for, if you are a hockey fan you have to admire Dale Hunter. In his post game interview last night he was asked how his team would respond and he said they will come out and play another hockey game and battle. To quote:

"It's just hockey, don't try to overanalyze it."

Brilliant

Tom,

Your so right. The caps got out shot like 38-18. However, the Rangers were extremely fortunate to force OT and win in OT.....entirely due to the Ward penalty.

When Dale Hunter was asked about that call, he said it unlucky and unintentional by Ward and thats just how his stick came up. Indeed, classy guy.

Wayyyyy back before the riotous media scrums of today, this was how most interviews looked and sounded like; terse, laconic, ascerbic and precise...typically Canadian. :<img src=:'>

True story about the hockey playing Sutter Brothers (there were 6 of them). Darryl and Dwayne were coaching against each other in a crucial Xmas Eve game and just before the puck dropped, Dwayne crossed the ice to wish Darryl a Merry Christmas. Darryl (the older brother) swatted away the proffered hand with the admonishment, "F**k off, we both have a game to coach!!"

It's not just a game.

Ben,

I would say Dale Hunter could be described as "Old School". I just don't know how you can bounce back from being 6.6 seconds away from being up 3 games to 2 and heading home. This will be the true acid test to see if Hunter has really turned the locker room. Of course, the style he has them playing, all the games are really close. That style does open up the game to a bounce of the puck sometimes.

In the first two rounds, there were 8 upsets.  With the Bruins and Flyers gone, I have no team to hate anymore.   Maybe I should start fishing again. ???
