Kansas Big Dog
Bird hunt.
Iver
My fly fishing tends to fall off as the hunting season starts... It could be I've had enough, or it could be that hunting is my driving force. Strangely I get equal levels of enjoyment out of fly fishing with or without a dog. Hunting is much more enjoyable with a dog. Does that mean I'm with Ben?
PartridgeCartridge
Bird hunt. I bet catching a cockbird with a corn fly would be even easier.
trust me
My $40 fly rod with the $20 reel currently has a bluegill popper tied on. Does that count as fly fishing? Doesn't matter. I'd give up fishing of all kinds before I would hunting, and I like me some wading for smallmouth a bunch.
LostintheUplands
I have too many memories wrapped around flyfishing to leave it behind. Memories that were formed long before “The Movie” came out. My Upland hunting memories are still being created and I hope to continue for just as long. I will choose not to choose.

Shotster
Drifting a dry for trout is a close #2...quail hunting is #1 every time, and shooting dove adds to the voting. Just say'n, Shotster
WyomingArt
I've always found it regrettable that we can't catch and release our birds. WyomingArt

SODAKer
I enjoy both but fishing just can't replace the solitude, tranquility and anticipation that I experience watching dogs work deep in the prairie.
john mcg
Not surprising, this being an Upland forum and all. I did expect a few more enthusiastic FF for that column, though. OF course there is not need to choose, but I was interested (curious) to know the what ifs. The two go hand and hand for me as fly fishing led so easily to upland hunting as I indicated, at a time in my life when I needed to slow down a bit and change my recreating habits and still stay in the woods and waters that I've enjoyed all of my life. Now that I'm tying flies, the continuity is even more real. Its doubly cool to transition from one season to another with feathers from birds shot over the pups put to hook and then enjoyed once again throwing loops at the princes of all things with fins...salmonids. Unfortunately, at this time I have needed to purchase hungarian partridge carcass and I haven't yet bagged an ostrich, but ruffs, woodcock and refugee pheasants provide much to use. It remains my choice if only one were available to me. I can run dogs on birds with camera. Shoot clays to enjoy the bang and break. Fly fishing is year round and always available with a list of places in a bucket (list) that has no bottom.
Over&Under
I love to fly fish and bird hunt, but if I had to pick, bird hunting wins hands down.
JonR
If you put a gun to my head and made me choose only one, I'd tell you to go ahead and shoot. Can't imagine life without both bird hunting and flyfishing.
