Flairball
I'm in the firehouse for a 24 hr shift on Tuesday. Hopefully the wife and Ginger will be okay at home without me. If they do have any trouble I'll at least bring Ginger to the firehouse to ride it out. I'm also pretty sure we'll be damn busy at work. The city is putting an extra guy on all the ladder companies, and the rescues. As well as filling 5 extra companies and distributing them throughout the city. I am thinking Monday morning might be a time to get in a little duck hunting.
L. Gallagher
The threat appears to be over for my son in Vermont, but he's all prepared as best he can be anyway. He's learned a lot since Irene...my other son in Ohio is now on the far western edge of the threat area, but he's in a far better position to deal with things like this than his brother, with a heavy duty 4x4 pick-up, big Generac, no basement, and no where near running water. Thoughts and prayers will be out big time from northern Michigan for everyone else in this thing's path, though...there are times when you are grateful for being up to your rear in the snow, and having to deal with associated usually short period power outages as a result of that. Last March was 6 days, but it was just an inconvenience, not a threat to our home or property, thankfully.
jms gunner
per Navy Fleet radar it looks like it's supposed to make landfall in Delaware now on Tuesday. As of yesterday it was supposed to hit 12nm (nautical miles) off of Philly. We shall see.
SODAKer
As a youngster I used to think storms like this were cool. Now being responsible for the clean up both labor wise and financially I still think they are cool but hope they discourse way out to sea with no lingering effect land side. I've cleaned the gutters, extended the drain pipes away from the house, sand bagged the lower level door, thinking of moving the cars off premise etc.. Best to all of you in it's path.
