Ben.....you left off my perennially under achieving Caps. LOL

The bad news is that hockey is over for the year.

The GOOD news is that in one week the days start getting shorter again.......and closer to bird season!

Congratulations to the Hawks and their fans for an incredible run. They are a truly great team and their consistent performance over the past several seasons is remarkable. While I didn't see the series in its entirety, what I did see was exciting and well played hockey in every way.

That said, nothing compares to the LA King's come from behind, seat of the pants victory last year, especially when you consider the entire playoff series. It will be a very long time until the excitement gauge registers a higher rating IMHO.

Well I guess most of you will be off to watch America's 2nd favorite leisure time activity (after Texas Hold 'Em), namely baseball, for the rest of the summer until hunting season gives us something better to do. :D

Surely you jest!? That would be like dating Mammy Yokum after a long term relationship with Raquel Welch! Perish the thought! America's 2nd favourite passtime? Thank Christ I am not American.  :<img src=:'>

Like most of the series the Blackhawks just kept getting stronger as it went along!  What a great game, great series, great playoffs!

My Chicago Blackhawks stand alone at the summit of the National Hockey League!

Kane finally broke through, Duncan Keith got smarter as the playoffs went along, Toews is as smart and crafty as ever, those that still doubt Crawford just aren't paying attention! Joel Quenneville is one hell of a coach too !

Not many stadiums cheer team ownership the way they did last night when Rocky Wirtz raised The Cup overhead! Great to watch!

What a team !

It could be far worse - for instance, what if there were only soccer to watch!?  I'd put my TV into mothballs

I've been away for a couple of days. So didn't get a chance to congratulate you Hawk fans.  Great series, won by a great team. Crawford was a wall and Q is quite the coach.

These playoffs were a lot of fun. Tampa should be a threat out of the east for a couple of more years. Then we'll have to see what kind of magic Yzerman can do with the salary cap.

Just before I deleted the PVR last night, I watched some of the hi-lites of the Cup Series. There is a reason why some would call the Stanley Cup the hardest trophy in sports to win. Besides the pure unadulterated "vicious" competitiveness of a 7 game series, there was the near magical skills of all the players, the brilliant maneuverings of the coaches, and the injuries players played through. Just for an example Tampa's Bishop (torn groin) and Johnson (broken arm) played through the debilitating pain and agony to compete. Bishop did the splits once stopping a puck! I can't imagine a baseball player or football player enduring so much trying to win.

This has been a good playoff thread with a lot of knowledgeable contributions and good natured bantering. Congrats to the Bolts and the Hawks for some fantastic hockey!

Well said Ben.  For the most part the players leave it all on the ice and give the fans of hockey something that baseball, basketball and football fans can only dream of.

Another benefit to having your favorite team go deep in the playoffs is you don't have to wait as long for them to start playing again.
