How 'bout them Wild.  First time in seven (or was it 8?) attempts that they won the opening game

Happy for them.  I'd like to see them win the series.

Well I'm as good as picking winning teams as I am at picking stocks.  After all the game ones my picks are 3-5.

Bishop laid an egg last night. 46 shots for Lightning, 14 for Wings and we lose.  Mrazek stood tall for the Wings.

Subban=Marchand

Maybe he didn't see enough rubber.  I remember Kolzig was great when he saw a lot of shots but not so much if the opposition didn't get many.  I still like the Bolts chances.  I'd be surprised if Mrazek is that good for the rest of the series.  But I've been wrong many times before.

Habs up 2-0. I was skeptical about there offence going in but it seems they found some touch and intensity around the net.

As for the Subban slash, back in the day that would have been two minutes and no one would have been hurt as gloves actually protected that area on the wrist.

How about the Subban goal last night? Like him or hate him if you want a difference maker I'll take him.

Hope this series doesn't go the distance as there are going to be some beat up players.

Good observations, Bob. The animosity towards PK is due in part to color, personality and supreme talent. Like it or not, he is one of the faces of the NHL for now and the next decade. There are very few people in the NHL who can dominate a game and score like he did last night.

As for the slash of game one, the vast majority of commentators who have played the game, including Don Cherry, believed that it was a 2 minute penalty...not a 5 and game.

I am not a fan of the Canadiens by any stretch but they have some players I like and Price is one of them.  Playing goal in Montreal is likely one of the toughest positions in sports. Subban I am not a fan of.  Granted I'm a Bruins fan but I love a great, hard hitting, clean series.  Marchand drives me nuts sometimes with some of the bonehead plays he makes as well but he's our bonehead.  I think the thing that bothers me the most about Subban is that talent wise, there aren't many in the NHL that can match up.  He is as good a skater on the blue line as there is and he plays with passion.  That being said, he's always looking to take a dive where he can, he'll take a cheap shot an opposing player and then run and hide behind some teammate. As far as his slash the other night,  I personally think the punishment fit the crime.  An additional game wasn't necessary.  It's not the first time I've seen him make that 2 handed tomahawk though.  At the end of one of the playoff games against the Bruins last year, he was making repeated chops across the backs and shoulders of  multiple Bruins but it was never called.  With his talent, if he could play with the dedication and class of a Patrice Bergeron, he would be headed to the Hall of Fame for sure.  Hopefully he grows up some day.

No Marc, down 3. The Habs have too many ways to hurt someone, starting with Price and ending with a utility guy like Weise (tying goal and OT winner).

I wll say this, the Caps had better wake up! Period.

Calgary is for real. Hawks are swooping!

Go Habs!

The Sens already produced one miracle - a turn around season to make the play-offs.  Ottawa is now praying for another miracle!

I will not panic! I will not panic! I will not panic!

This year is different, in Trotz we trust! This year is different, in Trotz we trust! This year is different, in Trotz we trust!

My mantra as a Caps fan(the fact that NY has badly outplayed the Caps 8 out of the 9 periods played and they are only down 2-1 and yesterdays game went to OT smells bad for NY unless you have been a Caps historian and suffered through WAY too many failings)

Time will tell.

Also, it will be very interesting to see how the Rangers respond.

Subban would be the perfect Broon ! He does not belong in a Habs Jersey . If he were on any other team Ben would be spewing HATE all over the keyboard ! :p

Sorry.....Subban doesn't even come close to the grand punkness of Marchand.

Marchand is only one step below Sean Avery.....heck, they may be equals.

The NHL has tolerated to the point of encouraging the idiocy of guys like Ott for way too long.
