Steve Sutton
Larry the quote is actually rightfully attributed to UCLA Coach "Red" Sanders who first used it in the late forties. Something like 10 years before Lombardi used it. I'm still stumped on the movie Steve
M. R. Byrd
Nice guess Steve, but not Ronald Reagan. This president came to Dodge on a campaign stop when a senator running for president. He was made an Honorary Dodge City Marshal on that stop and liked the Marshal's posse and hence the posse was invited to the parade.
M. R. Byrd
In the same year the senator was made an Honorary Dodge City Marshal the following were pinned with the Dodge City badge: Guy Madison, Hollywood, CA, movie actor Joel McCrea, Hollywood, CA, movie actor David Jansen, Hollywood, CA, movie actor Chill Wills, Hollywood, CA, movie actor Robert Culp, Hollywood, CA, movie actor Steve McQueen, Hollywood, CA, movie actor Johnny Western, Hollywood, CA, movie actor and singer Does that help? Steve Sutton
If they didn't ride for Reagan's Inauguration then I'm mad at em and don't want to play anymore......silly Marshall's...one of their own and they weren't there..... pppffffbbbtttt...... Steve
M. R. Byrd
Sorry you are so bitter Steve. If Ronald Reagan would have asked them, they would have been there.
Steve Sutton
hahahaha.......seems like a good excuse to not be wrong again.....got me on this one...and I'd sent Ronald a nastygram if he wasn't dead chastising him for the lack of an invite...... Larry's question has m stumped too.... I need something easy like what kind of gun did Raquel Welch use in Hanni Caulder?.....(plus she's better looking than Reagan and all of the Marshalls....and particularly wen wearing nothing but a serape and a gunbelt)...... M. R. Byrd
There was a president that was lassoed at his inauguration? Who was it and his home town?
Steve Sutton
he looks more like an aged Chester in that picture.....put a football chin strap covering one eye and show him slinging spam to the adoring masses and he'd be far more recognizable..... I sold equipment for a Company located in Ft. Worth...owners Father was a good friend of the President you're talking about...and in fact had a photo of that actual lasso'ing on the wall on his office...claimed he knew the guy that threw the loop...... Don't know the town he was born in but he was a Texan and the last President to be born in the 1800's.......is that good enough?. Steve
M. R. Byrd
You are good, Steve. BTW, Dennis Weaver, Dodge City Marshal badge pinned on him in 1994.
