I walked down School Road in a CT town with a .22-250 slung to reach the power lines where woodchucks roamed.  Sometimes veered off to the elementary school, went prone on back steps overlooking the playground, and shot a few chucks there.  Remember taking one on a line of sight through a swing set.  The school principal used to watch from her office window.  Rule was I had to be gone before buses arrived - no big deal.

That didn't stop me from taking a cased A5 to high school so I could later take a different bus to a friend's house.  Went birding.  Back then there were grouse in the state of CT (maybe my best "I'm so old that I....")

Us kids used to slowly and quietly pick up the phone and eaves drop on the neighbors on the party line...

I remember when Interstate 95 came to my town; the northern terminus. It was a two lane highway until the mid 70s.

I remember when squirrels were big game. I'm telling you that, if you included the tail, they were as long as from the ground to my waist.

Geez, I am so old that I have hunted ducks in a stooked wheat field more than once. Used a shovel to turn over clods of dirt so they stood up on their stubble legs for decoys.

My family's first TV had a round screen and was black/white.

And when the TV stopped working, we pulled out the tubes and went down to the local 5 & 10 cent store to test them out and replace the bad tube.

Said to someone the other day, "I wouldn't mind being 45 again".

Just remembered what I forgot.  :oh:

I can remember in my first car, a '52 Pontiac, you would turn a key and push the "starter button"..!!
