only if I really like something, not in response to the 100th photo of the same dog.

I am offended.  :<img src=:'>

I love to share photos and became so disgusted with PB that I gave it up. It's easy on FB so I now share my photos there.

That being said, nothing on FB compares to this board with the close and excellent monitoring done by Brad  to keep it civil, keep the politics out and get rid of the riff raff.

This is a great site.

Happy New Year UJ!!

It helps men get hold of their inner female side, with all that gossiping and such.

Kinda funny cause not many kids under 20 uses FB anymore.  Only my 22yr old does, the 18 and 16y/o think its fuddy/duddy and for "old" people.

Time goes by very fast with technology!

I went to FB because I could "talk" real time with my daughter in Europe for free!  Loved it.  So I stuck around and found it much easier to post pictures and you don't have the rudeness that rears it's head in this format.  On FB you only communicate with who you want to, so those who are just trolling for a rise can't even get access to your page.

PB is not that big of a pain in the ass & even if it was there are other superior photo hosting sites. Lame excuse amigo for not giving fellow UJers some upland porn. Shame on u...

Not in it… and the reason is that FB is crap. And a waste of my time.

North Dakota Hunter posts some AWESOME photos on FB. I like FB because it allowed me to find and reestablish  boyhood friendships of 65 years ago. We've even had a reunion based on these rediscoveries.

Interesting discussion. Certainly simply having a Facebook account and page compromises time spent on traditional forums like this one, since again, time to screw around on the web is limited for most people. And its like a huge candy store, with constant stimulation and a powerful contact medium for family and friends. The mobile friendly nature is also key. You need to trudge through considerable ads posing as articles etc., but its not hard to understand why its so popular. Along those lines, many UJers, some who don't post much or even log-in any longer have friended a load of UJers on Facebook. (as have I...Id estimate 75% of my FB friends are UJers...some I have "unfollowed" since they clog my Newsfeed with political "stuff" all the time...) Where they once kept in touch via UJ PM or on forums they now use FB.

When that is combined with the Facebook Groups (Upland in this case) which most simulate and compete with traditional Forums like this one, then traditional boards lose Members or see activity dip. Even the best Board software (Ive researched them all) can't compete/compare with the coding and image uploading and storage and reach provided by FB. I've said it before, if those Groups were programmed to have more threaded or BB like discussion capabilities and Search functions instead of what I consider "Twitter type" interfaces, traditional boards would have already gone the way of the dinosaur.

FWIW, this isn't brain surgery,  I could have a UJ Facebook Group up and running within the next 10 minutes if I chose to. Can't beat them join them scenario... I may do that but only as a supplement to whatever happens with the traditional UJBB within the next couple months.

Another caveat...regardless of any compromise by other social media venues, Members here and on other boards burn out. Some have been here for 14 years. Its totally understandable that reading another Pheasant Load or pointer vs flusher thread makes their teeth ache. Sometimes as a Member Id like to bail or take a sabbatical, but I have a responsibility to active members and the constant flow of new Members to keep the lights on and the board relevant. Some charter Membes simply drift off, some reappear, I don't hold hostages nor beg anyone to stay here. And my strict moderating certainly has turned some Members away. That, is what it is.

FB like many other online things is what you make of it. When I created a page for our shop I could not launch it until I created a personal page. FB has a broad reach and is viable and valuable for our business.

I use FB to see what friends and family are up to. I have joined a few groups and dropped out due to lack of interest and lack of filter. My online time is usually spent on interest forums like this one and several others. Naturally FB occupies some of this time.

UJ is a nice refuge from so much of the politics, cat pictures and memes found on FB. I commend Brad for standing by his guns and set of post hole diggers to keep UJ this way.

I love FB, but I can't stay out of the political crap over there.  Not an option here.

I like both.

Not on it but it surprises me how it is used by people with authority to keep you from getting jobs, fired from jobs, accepted to college, police and FBI targeting

I avoided it for years. My wife seems to enjoy spending time there. I decided to give it a try in October. One thing that I have enjoyed is making contact with people who I haven’t had contact with for over 30 years. Oh and some of them I really liked.

I joined FB so that I could follow The Evil Clown's political ramblings. Since following Tim, I have changed my ways thanks to his FB posts and I am now a racist, misogynistic, homophobic, Bible thumping, pro-lifer, that wants to close our borders, arm all of America, and repeal Obamacare. Facebook is great for changing people's minds. You really all should try it.

What is the Clown up to? Is he incarcerated yet?

I enjoy FaceBook.  But most importantly, owning a small coffee shop, this allows us to stay in contact with our biggest clientele, women over the age of 25.

We also cross post to Twitter and Instagram.

I usually don't do what everyone else does and have absolutely no interest in FakeBook (though we do have an account for our business...not sure if it draws traffic or customers). Though I'm not a recluse, I really don't care for the whole world to know where I am and what I'm up to...and I probably don't want to hook up with any old girlfriends/ex wives from the past (at least I don't think so but a guy should leave his options open).

My wife, who's probably a borderline FB junkie mentioned the other day that she's gotten pretty sick of the whole "I'm at the store now" or political "vote for" posts and might delete her account.

I wished she'd delete our tv service, too

For all you political hacks out there that can't seem get enough of that crap...don't you know that you're only a pawn in "their" game? Their = They = the Establishment.

Bob Dylan sang something about that

I am amazed at how some people feel like they are forced to read stuff they do not like and talk to people they do not like and are compelled to tell people what they are doing all the time.

You are not required to do any of that.

I just delete people who put up political stuff. I share what I choose to share, I have never had an old girlfriend attempt to hook up with me (which may be for other reasons than .....oh nevermind).

If someone is uninteresting and constantly posts the drivel of their day.....I delete them. Pretty simple. Just like scrolling past threads here that do not interest me....I don't have time for everything so I keep what I like and get rid of the rest.

Hated Facebook.. Kids moved away. Family/nieces/nephews far away. Caught myself looking at my wife's facebook to see what was going on. Joined. Find it interesting.

I can see videos of youth games, pictures of them doing outdoor activities. We share pictures of our hunting trips ect... with family.

I also am friends with resorts. They post ice depths and access availability. Businesses post specials and events. In many businesses employers will actually expect their employees to have Facebook as a marketing tool. Not having one is considered odd.

The political ads are annoying. I have lost a lot of respect for people that constantly forward inaccurate information and use derogatory descriptions of political peoples or ideas. Doesn't matter which side. That being said you learn who the crazies are!!! LOL

I see facebook as a tool. I can use or not. It does connect me to resorts and businesses. I see more of my family a long ways away. I will go with thumbs up on Facebook.
