There is much mystic nonsense written about hunting but it is something that is much older than religion. Some are hunters and some are not.

I guess I have been preoccupied lately.....

“All I wanted to do was get back to Africa. We had not left it, yet, but when I would wake in the night I would lie, listening, homesick for it already."

― Ernest Hemingway, Green Hills of Africa

"I speak of Africa and golden joys; the joy of wandering through lonely lands; the joy of hunting the mighty and terrible lords of the wilderness, the cunning, the wary and the grim."

---Theodore Roosevelt, African Game Trails

What people don't understand is this is something that we only have in America.

There is no other country in the world where the ordinary citizen can go out and enjoy hunting and fishing.

There's no other nation in the world where that happens.

And it's very much a part of our heritage.

Norman Schwarzkopf

If St. Peter asks me what I want when I get to the pearley gates, I'll have a question for him: "do you have any pointing dogs up here?" If he wants to know why I asked I'll say: "I want to go where they went."

You gotta shoot 'em where the corn goes in, not where it comes out!

Crusty old Illinois river rat duck hunter -  to a young whippersnapper wannabe duck hunter.  OMG, that was about 55 years ago.  Yikes!
