atkins or south beach , atkins works quicker, just eliminate everything from your diet but fish fowl meat yellow cheese and eat one bowl of green veggies perday you will lose that much weight in six weeks or less.

And you wont be hungry once lipolisis sets in you almost have to remind yoself to eat because the body is utilizing your body fat.

You will have cravings for the first week, just eat protien like eggs or meat whenever you feel hungry.

My choloresteral (sp?)dropped 100 pts doing atkins also, strangely enough.

Here's why I think the South Beach Diet is that way to go... If you take the time to read the book, you'll learn more about good lifelong eating habits then you will about "dieting."  Long after you've decided to kick the "diet," you will take away lessons that are all about providing your body with the best fuel: low fat meats, veggies, fruits, unrefined grains, nuts, etc.

Anyway, I have tremendous respect for anyone who diets and/or exercises, regardless of how they do it. It's all about make the commitment and finding something that you actually enjoy or you'll never stick with it.

Me, I'm an endurance racing guy, but just because I don't lift weights, doesn't mean that I don't really respect the folks who put in the time and effort.

Brad, I don't think there's anything wrong with getting in shape for "vanity" reasons. Hey, at least you care enough that you WILL make the effort.

Pat, most of the distance people I know also do some weight work as cross training.

Brad the the idea of not being able to get stonger after 45, I'm 48 and started lifting last year after some time off years, although it is mostly curcuit training I also bench and do some dumbell work, my strength went up every week for quite awhile before leveling off. Your right though I don't look that great but thats my diet or lack of a diet.

As far as the powerlifting debate I lifted with PLers for years over 10, not as a competitor just a lifter, but most of the guys did lift 5-6 days a week with a heavy-light workouts training up to meets, and as they got closer they might go to just the heavy workouts once a week, never heard of taking that much time in between workouts, and most of the guys wouldn't want to take that much time off. Anyways now Im just old and fat.

I got a call from this company and ordered their 5-day, 10 lb. weight loss

program.

The next day, there's a knock on my door and there stands before me a

voluptuous, athletic, 19 year old babe dressed in nothing but a

pair of Nike running shoes and a sign around her neck.

She introduces herself as a representative of the weight loss company. The sign reads, 'If you can catch me, you can have me.' Without a second thought, I take off

after her. A few miles later huffing and puffing, I finally give up. The same girl shows up for the next four days and the same thing happens. On the fifth day, I weigh myself and am delighted to find that I lost 10 lbs. as promised.

Well I call the company and I order their 5-day/20 pound program. The next day there's a knock at the door and there stands the most stunning, beautiful, sexy woman I’ve ever seen in my life. She is wearing nothing but Reebok running shoes and a sign around her neck that reads, 'If you catch me you can have me'. Well, I’m out the door after her like a shot. This girl is in excellent shape and I can’t catch her. So for the next four days, this same routine happens with me gradually getting in better and better shape. Much to my delight on the fifth day when I weigh myself, I discover that I have lost another 20 lbs. as promised.

I decide to go for broke and call the company to order the 7-day/50 pound program 'Are you sure?' asks the representative on the phone. 'This is our most rigorous program.' 'Absolutely,' I reply, 'I haven't felt this good in years.' The next day there's a knock at the door; and when I open it there’s this huge muscular guy standing there wearing nothing but pink running shoes and a sign around his neck that reads, 'If I catch you, your ass is mine.'

I lost 63 pounds that week

Week two for me:

Weight: 246

Change from last week: -5

Change from beginning: -11

Plan: Body for Life- Bill Phillips

Wearing a pair of pants I put back on rack last time I tried them on.  Still snug, but now bearable.  More spring in the step also.

Congrats to all who are working to imporve their health.

My nephew had somehting similar to the joke above happen to him, true story (or at least as he told it).  He was driving along and this beautiful blonde pulls up beside him in a black Porsche 911 turbo, looks over and smiles.  He said it was a scene right out of a Chevy Chase movie.  As she accelerated away she had a bumper sticker that said  "If you can catch me, you can _ _ _ me".  He said his F-150 never went so fast.  It developed a bad carburator backfire after that abuse.  A few days later his truck caught on fire an burned to the ground.  He still blames her.

That's -6 pounds this week.

Going through a bit of a scare. Last night my heart was beating weird. It was pounding in my chest, keeping me awake. I have no history of this kind of thing. I went to the emergency room. They said I was lucky I came in because I could have had a stroke if I hadn't. They said I had something called Atrial fibrillation. Basically the top part of my heart was beating 300-500 beats per minute, the bottom normally. Blood pressure was way up. They actually had to stop my heart with drugs to get me fixed up. I was awake when they did it.  Very scary feeling.

Apparently this this is rare in someone who is as young as I. From what I have read, it's life long medication or surgery.  Major Mojo would be appreciated.  Going to the cardiologist tomorrow...

Quit looking at porn when you get in bed :D J/K

Darn it boy, major MOJO from me, take care, that would scare anyone.

We are blessed what medicine can do nowadays, maybe it was just a one time thing, hopefully.
