BOARD ALERT: Converting from http to https

Recommended Posts

It seems some Browsers are now tagging any website/URL as an unsecure site if they have an http rather than the https code at beginning of URL/web address. Thus the UJ Board is being tagged as such.

Im not a web/digital genius but generally https adds an extra layer of security and encryption. And is most critical if a website uses e-commerce requiring people to use credit cards etc. This Board does NOT use any inhouse software e-commerce. The PayPal Donation function is totally SEPARATE from the BB software and is already https.

So don't worry about it, this Board is still quite secure.

Anyhow, I'm making the switch from http to https soon. The BB software support says it will be reasonably benign and most everything will automatically redirect to the new URL. I've heard that before so am anticipating a hassle, for me, and Members and that's why I'm dragging my feet...there is the possibility that some past links wont link/work, and a good possibility that anyone using a third party photohost site (as opposed to the on Board photo Uploading feature) may find their past posted photos are no longer linking, etc., etc. We shall see...

Kudos to you Brad for sticking with all this evolving teckie stuff.  I'm still trying to figure out DOS.
