Hmm, are there any young balladeers worth listening to these days? Certainly none on my 14-y-o's playlist.

Got any suggestions?

Mike Gould....I listen to him all the time.

Sunset monterey........First you take my name...........Women and rain......and the best is Still Standin'

Gordon Lightfoot has always been a big favorite of mine, and "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" is certainly near the top...

Lush Life, Billy Strayhorn's piece for the Ellington band, though it's been covered by dozens of folks over the decades, is my nominee for best contemporary ballad. I like Joe Williams' cover but there are other good ones, too.

Robert Earle Keene Jr.

Any fav's, Lee?

The Road goes on forever is good and I also like Shades of Grey.

A lot of his songs are stories and most are at least, interesting.

The Wreck is good.  Very good.  I'm with Erik in liking Bob's ballads.  My favorite is Lily, Rosemary and The Jack of Hearts.l

Bob Dylan - Visions of Johanna

Good one Tom,

I really wanted to name one of my daughters Johanna.

Closest I could get was "Hannah" which is what we named her.  But, in my mind I still sometimes add that "Jo"

Bob Dylan - Tangled Up in Blue

Can't believe I forgot that one, that is a great one.

"I must admit I felt a little uneasy

When she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe,"
