Hey Michiganer’s

Recommended Posts

L. Gallagher

I have not heard the song-of course, I don't pay much attention to people like Kid Rock, he's right up there with Paris, Brittany, etc., in my book.

Somewhere along the line I heard he lived in Detroit for a time, my husband says he lived up here for a time, I'm surprised he survived if that's true.

I'll have to find the song and listen to it-if the sandbar he mentions is Torch Lake, that specific area already has enough trouble, with people trying to turn it into the debacle that occurs on Lake St. Clair every summer, with their drinking, nudity, and gross pollution of the water.

Do you really want to glorify watching people pee in some of the cleanest, most beautiful water in the world... ???

In the last year or so, there have been moves to shut this sort of activity down, the DNR has instituted a pay fee at the boat launch most people use, there's two sheriff's patrols in attendance every weekend, and they often have the state police out there as well.

If these people could clean up their act, buy their booze locally, eat their food in the local restaurants, and sleep naked in motels instead of passed out on someone's lawn while the frantic homeowner tries to find the cops or in their cars parked in front of someone's house, then I'd be all for promotion of the sandbar. But they don't, they're pigs, and they're not just kids for the most part.

It's also sad that the song is about northern Michigan, as are a number of other songs and books, but they don't come here to film the video or shoot the movie.

PS-There are no walleye in Torch Lake. Perhaps he was just looking for a catchy line, and that fit. I don't know of anywhere around here you can catch walleye off a dock-wait a minute, yes I do, but you need to be out in the middle of the night, and it's not Torch Lake.

I have caught bits and pieces of this video over the past few months, as recently as yesterday....it puts a smile on my face when I see it or hear the song.  I think there are too few things that put smiles on our faces as of late...I will not be making anything to do with Kid Rock, or this video, my personal crusade, even if it glorifies urination, nudity,  and  catching 'eye's from the dock...all things I aspire to do while on a dock!

How can anybody dislike a song that has the line "Catching walleye off the dock?"

Umm, easliy?

DESPISE this song. It's about as original and artistic as a velvet Elvis.

Catching walleye off the dock? Umm, really? Are you? Where? When? Not only unlikely, but I call BS on his part.

"We were trying different things, we were smoking funny things"...Umm, dude? Really? I thought you were a rapper? Rappers can rhyme, in my experience.

"Singing sweet home Alabama all summer long"...?? Well, Mr. Rock, I would be singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long, as it's a GREAT song, until your notalentass went and butchered it with a song that is not only stupid, but filled mostly with lies and other things you may have hoped to be doing.

Oh, the greatest thing about hating this song is that I live in Michigan. Can you imagine how often I have to hear this song? No, you can't.

Kid Rock did NOT live in Detroit. Far from it, in fact. He grew up in Romeo, which is about 45 minutes from Detroit proper. He honed his "craft" at clubs in Mt. Clemens, which is about 30 minutes from Detroit.

Look, I was supporting him back in the day, as he would bounce around from local SUBURBAN club to suburban club around Detroit. He was fun, and put on an honest, hard-working show. I resepected that.

Now? Now, no effing way. This frikkin brutalass song does little to add to my support of him. He is famous for being famous, but little more.

Does this song REALLY take some of you back to the "day"? Really? Am I to also understand that some of you LIKE this song? Based the EFF on what? The original score? The snappy, witty lyrics? The depth of prose?

EFF!!

In the spirit of Rugerdog's analysis.

Hmmm, just finally watched the video. Skinny ugly white dude made it big, surrounded by T&A models with a Pamela Lee lookalike girlfriend, rips off other musicians.

If he had mentioned ground sluicing grouse I may have liked it more... :<img src=:'>

For the record when I used to fish back in my formative days I fished a lake in lower northern Michigan between Black and Mullett. You could catch walleyes from a dock.....not our dock but their was one on the lake that protruded out near the end of a dropoff where the lake narrowed.

Wasn't Bob's dad a well to do car salesman in the metro Detroit area?

Sorry, I have never heard the song, but wanted to interject that I have caught hundreds of walleyes off docks. Most recently and about a month ago, on West Okoboji Lake in Iowa.

Not to mention that this notalentassclown is singing a song about his supposed exploits in northern MICHIGAN...All the while sampling Sweet Home ALABAMA, AND Wherewolves of LONDON and then shooting the video in TN!

EFF EFF EFF!! If the above doesn't say it all, what does? CRIPES, and EFF!

Morning Lohn....

The fact that he mentioned '89 takes me back to the day. I was 17, a recent hs grad and pretty much tried to live every night like it was the last. A buddy and I supported Budweiser though employment at Streetcars carwash. Sometimes we'd find things under seats of cars we vacumed, or in the ash trays we cleaned, and lunch would become interesting. Every friday we left for the beach 3 hours away. Its a wonder I lived through that summer.

Kidrock pretty much sums up the ridiculous way I lived that summer, nay for many summers. Carefree, and chasing girls.

I thought I reconized some of the dancers in his video. Old Hickory is about an hour from me, and aint no place you wanna get caught with open containers.

If you would like to recapture "the day", might I suggest listening to an origionally scored song from oh, say...1989?

Fueling Kid's fire makes me sick. He deserves nothing for this pieceofshitlie of a "song".

Hey, I was 17 in 1989, too...But I know effingshit when I hear it, and this be.

OK, I have to chime in here.. I cannot stand this song!! Love Kid and most of his previous work but this really lowered the bar..

pretty much sums up how I feel about it.

And is that Joe Dirt in with the '86 camaro at the beginning? Sure looks like him...

Didn't he steal 2 different beats for this song?  Sweet Home Alabama, and that old WereWolves song.

I could go either way w/ the song, but I don't like the "smoking funny things." line.

Lohan: Please, please, before you blow out the supraorbital vein, please click HERE.

It's only a song, for chrissakes. Kind of a catchy little ditty, IMHO.

Also, I have caught walleye off a dock and I have caught walleye on a fly rod. I have not caught walleye off a dock with a fly rod, nor have I been on a boat with performing strippers.

Though both sound like good, obtainable goals.
