Uplander
Not sure how some folks in this great area can complain about tourist, when it writes their pay checks. Some folks just like to complain, period.

L. Gallagher
I'm thrilled those folks fill up your hotel, Fritz...at least, I hope they do?? I just think we could attract a higher quality of celebrity...if those celebrities would just check us out. Then we wouldn't have to make big of Madonna, Michael Moore, and other such, um, oddities. And the folks who come to Antrim County as tourists don't come because of film festivals, cherry festivals, or even fudge...all of which are many miles away. They come for clean water, which the folks on the sandbar are annually polluting at an incredible e-coli rate...and for access to that water.

Anyone "Michigan" can relate to some portion of the song. Maybe he is referring to a lake Up North or maybe its the Jobbie Nooner thats been taking place for the last 20 years on Lake St. Clair. http://www.detnews.com/apps....Y As far as what celebs visit and spend money in Michigan I don't thnk any mentioned are as bad as the Mayor of Detroit. Steelheadfred
The State of Michigan is in NO position to turn down any form of positive publicity (and the multipliers of $ it brings with it), be it a Kid Rock song or a Madona Documentary on Aids ravaged orphanages in Malawi. People dont come just for the Movies, or the concerts, they come for the whole package, and having "things for them to do" is vital for our region and its prosperity. Also is "High Quality" and "Celebrity" sort of a oxymoron?
bennelli-banger
Anyone here watch SNL over the past few years? Ever catch "Debbie Downer"? Funny stuff...very funny stuff. There are at least a few "Debbie Downers" who frequent this BB.

Matt Crawford
Anyone here watch SNL over the past few years? Ever catch "Debbie Downer"? Funny stuff...very funny stuff. There are at least a few "Debbie Downers" who frequent this BB. I don't watch TV, for the simple reason that it's brainless, mindless chatter which has spurred an obesity epidemic and curtailed creativity in this country, and thus, has allowed countries like Japan, Germany (and much of the EU) to surpass us as the world's leading superpower. TV has also glorified violence against women, furthered stereotyping of certain social classes and allows multi-national corporations that worship only at the alter of profit to further exploit the average American (now fatter and dumber than previous generations). In addition, many of today's TVs are being built in China, where working conditions are often marginal and environmental responsibility is simply a joke. So while, I totally understand that it's now considered rapier wit to reference popular television as a touchstone of American culture, I can't "go there" with you. Sorry.
