Where are all the ticks

Recommended Posts

Jacquidog

With the virus shutdown we have been spending a lot of time in the NE PA woods. As of now we have seen very few ticks on us or the dogs.  The weather has been mixed with both warm and cool days, but nothing unusual.  How are they elsewhere?

They apparently migrated to Oklahoma. The little bastids were thick the last few weeks.

They were low in my area of mid Maine last year and so far pretty much non existent this spring. Not a single tick found on dogs wearing Seresto collars and none crawling on us. Yet.

They must have all moved to the western part of the state to get away from the cities.  We've been seeing them pretty regularly up my way the past couple weeks.

I was seeing larval stage ticks in March pretty consistent. Right now I’m not finding any on the dog. It could be that Rocky has a new Soresto collar and a treated vest on everyday.

Hopefully they all died from the 19.

Plenty around here.  I introduced my nephew to permethrin before he started turkey hunting this week. He was amazed by the effectiveness.

Three days in the woods=O ticks.

So far, I've seen only a few, but it's still early.  The dogs are treated, and have had only one or two, as has untreated me 😉.  When I was turkey hunting last week, the few days I got out were cold early in the morning, with  no toms talking, so no opportunities to sit out with the ticks while it warmed up happened.  So I haven't really tested the population density yet.
