The Self Isolated Cell Phone Photo Dump

Recommended Posts

Decided it was time to clear out the photo gallery on the phone...kind of retraces my steps back thru beginning of quarantine.  In this day and age where it is required we share everything, let this be my record...:

Started with a Costco/Fred Meyer/Tractor Supply run:

This was about the time I decided to round file my yearly hunting hat - I pick one hat for the season and go with it no matter how disgusting it gets.  This one I got from doing a gravel bike race last year and did me well around the chukar slopes.  Goodbye ol' friend:

At the beginning we were holding out hope we still might be able to go to a dog trial or two so kept working the crew:

For some ill conceived reason I chose being quarantined with my wife as the time to point out her habit of leaving partially drank water bottles all over the place.  For even worse ill conceived reasons I chose to take a picture of the evidence and send it to her.  I would not advise doing anything remotely similar to this judging by the response...I have not slept with both eyes shut ever since:

Been doing lots of solo bike riding...and you have to take pictures or it didn't happen:

I think this may be the second selfie I have ever taken but the day seemed to call for it:

Getting lots done around the place - resealed my back patio.  Most of the time recording for posterity a picture of my home "improvements" is last thing I'd wanna do but I was happy with how this turned out:

The Mrs. whipping up a batch of raspberry jam.  For those of you from the region, she has been en-trusted with Glen Wiese's secret recipe of the jam he has been secretly handing out to selectively chosen ones for years:

Trying to watch TV while being watched...odd:

We have been doing some self isolated horse rides.  I had a buddy and his girlfriend want to go one day so had to call an old saddle into duty.  For the western afficionados this is my grandfather's custom Ray Holes saddle made in Grangeville, ID, made, I dunno, 1950's?, and used - really used, ranch used, not the pansy horsey chit I do.  I have been planning on displaying it on a nice wooden saddle rack in my man cave but it warmed my dad's heart when I told him I was putting it to use for a ride in the country.  My buddy proposed to his girlfriend on the ride, she said yes...not sure if the saddle is good luck or... ;) :

More bike riding...many times in the basement on the trainer riding in virtual worlds on the computer:

Wattopia Jungle route:

Prudential RideLondon Classique route in April Fool's Day kit and bike:

Bout kilt myself one day when I was trying to text on my phone while riding on the trainer in my aero extensions...snapped a bolt and my left extension fell off...created the unicorn.  The .20 cent bolt that broke ended costing me about $150 bucks in new parts.  Long painful story of broken EZ Outs, parts no longer made, screws too long/screws too short.  Story of my mechanical life:

49836123547_420b493f22_z.jpg

Related bike stuff...a buddy called and asked if I had an old school crank puller so went to the toolbox, grabbed it, photo'd it and texted "like this one?":

Rode my bike on a 30mph windy day...picked up a passenger:

49836123297_19e2310991_c.jpg

Rode a cool gravel loop last Sunday...extra credit for the field trial crowd if they can I.D. where I'm at:

And the last photo entry is one from a run yesterday down along the Pocatello Greenway - beautiful time of year to be self isolated!:

Feel free to add to the random cell phone photo dump - amazing the silly photos I collect just out and about with a phone.  If any of this wierdness peaks an interest or question - fire away...running out of ways to entertain myself...you guys are it...no pressure...

Yah, the Mrs. is a bit fanatical about the Pack.

The thingy is an artisan gourd thingy made by my artisan cousin:

I started collecting partial bottles of drinking water, combining the water, and using it for making coffee.  My wife simply stopped drinking any coffee made by me.  Now I just keep and reuse smaller, 8 or 12 oz bottles, and buy water in gal jugs.  I also installed a filter for our well, and have a filter inside also for the kitchen tap.

It was time for another cell phone photo dump.  Strange the things I decide to snap a shot of...anyway, if you find anything of interest, fire away!  Post your own cell phone collection as well - maybe it tells us something about ourselves!

Between braces out training dogs, I just let my horses wander around and nibble on grass...my old horse, Savvy, who I gather has had enough of following dogs in circles, always heads straight for the trailer and loads himself up I guess hoping we are done for the day!:

My old dog Scoots, 16yo., out helping me retrieve water tanks from our field trial grounds at completion of the trial...been coming with me for years to do it, gonna be sad when he's not there - strange the silly little chores that can take on their own importance just based on who you do 'em with!:

Apparently I ride my bike way too much!  Pocatello has some awesome riding and a great riding community!:

Took this one...riding my bike:

Heading to ranch to do some work and picked up a stowaway!:

Getting the horses shod...really cool craftsmanship and strangely fascinating to watch:

Quick shot from a ridge south of town out goofin' on foot:

50635996167_a8fed0589b_b.jpg

Found this deadhead, and the rest of the carcass, on the east fenceline of my place about a week into the hunting season.  I could not tell if he'd been shot or not as scavengers had pretty well done their thing...but I'd guess he'd been hit and not recovered:

Took RV batteries out for winter...decided I'd snap a shot so I would remember come spring what goes where...cuz maybe in the past I couldn't remember exactly...maybe...

Feeding my mini-round bales in a HayChix "West Coast" slow feeder net...takes 'em about two days to get thru one:

50635996212_be449651da_z.jpg

A pano from my ongoing string of too many to count fruitless chukar hunts 2020...they just gone...:

Sunset heading home from the ranch:

Whew, cell phone photo gallery is dumped and deleted!

Good stuff fellas. Ive always had an attraction to horses despite only being on the back of one a half dozen times in my life. Maybe it just calls to a lifestyle that I admire more than anything. When I get in my saddle all I have to think about is a seatbelt 😒

Neat picture tour.  Thank you for sharing.

Just scrolled through mine for this year and noticed quite a few that my boys took of a late 1890’s to early 1900’s barn we rehabbed, along with building a mobile chicken coop and greenhouse we added to the barn.  Spent every weekend Since April working for this client.  Even rebuilt a couple High and Low houses for the client also.  Didn’t realize the boys had taken them till I saw your post and decided to scroll though mine.  It was pretty neat finding out what they did with my phone camera.  Looking back, it was an absolute pleasure spending weekends with the boys teaching them the trade.

Right on! Thats kind of what I have been noting....the convenience, almost non-chalance, of these phones creates photographic breadcrumbs of our activities without really realizing it.  Some end up being very cherished for sure!

I would be framing this one !  Really grabbed at me !

In an odd way with his advanced age and slowing down he has kind of become a dog I have never really had - he hangs out at my side, I drop my hand and his nose is right there, pays attention to my every move.  He spent about the first 14 years of his life focused on ripping around exploring the world and I guess thinking I wasnt that fun to hang out with!  Him and I have been kicking around together longer than me and my wife.
