Transferring Google Earth to another computer

Recommended Posts

So I finally got a newer computer. The gal that transferred my stuff gave me a new blank slate Google Earth. How do I move my Google Earth way points from my old computer to this one?

you can right click on your places in google earth and then either email it to you or save it and then transfer to the new computer.

I would save it to a flash drive and then import it, on the new computer, from the flash drive.

right click on your place, placemark, etc (whatever you want to save)

Click  save place as

navigate to where you want to save it  (on flash drive would likely be easiest)

give it whatever name you want and hit save.

_____________

on new computer

insert the flash drive and open up google earth

File  ---->  Import

a box will open so that you can navigate to the file you want to import.

navigate to the flash drive.

near the bottom right of the box, it will likey say something like  Generic Text (*.txt* .csv), with a drop down arrow next to it.

Click the arrow, and scroll to the bottom and select All files (*.*)

now you will be able to see and select the file that you saved to the flash drive .

after selecting the file, click open and you should be good to go.

good luck
