Snuck in a couple woodcock hunts with the wife, really enjoyed her shooting birds over Mae in her first season.

Carried dogs out for an hour and a half. Found 3 coveys. Shot one bird from each covey.  Dogs had a good time.

WC in Ga. Today beautiful day and nice temps. Moved alot of birds. Tough hunting in briars and pines. If you zoom in on my dogs nose you will see how briars have played havoc. Reminds me of when I ran beagles.

Nail'em with another ten minute point.  I was on the south side of the 40 soybean field when he pointed on the north side.  Took this fat boy a while to get there.

Deja vu all over again.  This point occurred almost exactly where my late Sonny setter dog pointed a covey about 8 years ago, just after I entered the SW corner of the 40 acres.

Congrats, Dave!  Is that an older Beretta BL-4, or 5, you used?  Beautiful shotgun there.

Our Upland season has ended for this year....sadly.

Yes, Wes. A 1968 BL 4, first year manufacturing I think. 20 gauge 28” barrels.

Nice handling O/U.  Tight as in 1968.

Dave, do you have a photo of Jack for us to see?  He did well on your pheasant hunt..!

I bought a BL-3 20 gauge w/ 28" bbls. NIB in late 1969 for $229.  I remember my mother telling me,  "I was nuts to spend that much on a shotgun!"  (My father just smiled...!). I just returned from Vietnam and I thought it was worth it - AND I also deserved it, too.

Great photo!

Have you seen Bob?
We headed to southern Iowa for a quail hunt and hunt we did trudging through 4 inches of wet extra heavy snow lol.
We found one covey. I would have had the only good shot but I couldn't shoot because baby puppy ( not mentioning any names 😉) ran right through them without pointing. Barrett and I tracked them through some thorny brush right up to someone's back yard. Well done Bob, well done!
