I don’t do the bucket list bit, but I do have a few things I’ve set my mind on getting done.  One was to see my 84-year-old father shoot a bird over my English Setter, Archie.     I took my fat

at almost 14yrs old his career is over but a 20 minute walk on easy trails still produces fun now and again

The old Birddog came out of retirement this weekend and put on a clinic. The Youngblood (gwp) remained true to her goofball self and hunted well, too.

Dogs had a good time.

I waited until it warmed up to a balmy -12 to take Barrett for a walk. We saw some birds. Barrett was disappointed that no birds were harmed today.

Had a great hunt Thursday despite the cold.  The sunshine had the birds out moving in the face of this storm and we had lots of opportunities.  I've been done shooting since January so I focused on getting some good photos/video.

Those roosters will be okay - at least the snow is soft and easily moved and scratched through.  But the hens will suffer more than the roosters and that will bite us this fall.

I agree, I have watched roosters push hens off of a food source. We do not need that many roosters for the breeding season. I can see why some states lengthen the end of the season.

A friend took this picture of my Ellie Mae last Thursday.  She's starting to show some age but can still cover the ground!
