Garmin Pro 550 Plus - Software Update/Download Question

Hi all, say, I just got a Pro 550 +, and I have a question regarding the SW downloads.

 

My question is. 

 

Do you really need to update the software on the collar and handheld?

 

I'm not going to use this device with any other device.  I won't need maps or other features other than the GPS on the unit.

I ran my Alpha and TT15 for a couple of years with out updating- Until I had a problem.  Others are more proactive and update on a regular basis.

Likely dont need to if its working. Dont think I did updates when i bought my alpha in 2019 though i did an update pre-season 2020. I will likely do one once per year going forward just to be on the safe side.

I do my Alpha TT15 one once a year prior to the season .

I would suggest you do the updates.  It’s just like a cellphone, they fix little bugs that might improve your service. I don’t have the 550 but an Astro 430 and the update fixed a slow connection issue I had with one of the collars
