The boys and our friends found a few here in Oklahoma this morning....

Mixed fishing/morel day.  Biggest haul I've ever found... My five-year-old son did well & found several on his own.  Glad we went today b/c the heat and the dry is starting to affect them. Mostly

Soon here, cold nights put us back a little.

Like waterman said....  we had low temps over night two days in a row and are due for another one tonight Upper 20's-low 30's.  That will slow them down.  However the next 4-5 days will be in the 70's so they may turn on.

I looked locally for a bit today. It’s just a bit too early. Stripers are here though, woohoo !!!!!

Down here at elevation 1000 in the mid south the morels  are out. Friend picked 100 + yesterday. All gray, not any black morels. Dryland Fish is the reference term down here.

Still a month before I even attempt to start looking for them.

I’m got five small ones on Tuesday. About 1300’ elevation in Southern Oregon.

No Dave....  These are for really eating...  Not for that "other" experience.....  ala Jimmy Hendrix.

As much as I like morels, they remind me of brains with a brainstem.

Too bad they can't cross breed them with psilocybin shrooms. Then you could have your cake and eat it too.

The last thing those wild little jokers depicted need is  psychedelic mushrooms!!

Still pretty darn cold here in central PA.  Can't imagine I'll bother looking locally til after tax day.  A friend of mine found a fair number of small blacks down in central WV a couple days ago. But he's really keyed into it & has a lot of spots that produce every year.

...my parents gave me a nice mess of ramps, though, so those are definitely out in WV. Had them for dinner w/ potatoes & bacon grease.

PS. I also love chicken-of-the-woods.  I seem to have better luck finding them around here than morels.

I’ve got an awesome spot for ramps. I wanted to look this weekend but just can’t get it done. I’m fishing tomorrow.
