comments requested for West Virginia grouse habitat creation!

This project could potentially create new young forest habitat in West Virginia's Monongahela National Forest.  It is sorely needed for our declining ruffed grouse and other native birds and small game species.  Please take a moment to submit a comment in support of creating young successional forest to help these species (best if you mention them).  We have about 3 weeks left to comment on it.  This area has lots of potential.

Thanks for posting that, Boon.

There's a project in Georgia specifically to create ESH on a district in the Chattahoochee National Forest (CNF).  Although it's on a much smaller scale than the West Virginia work, it's still worthwhile.  And in Georgia it's a hell of a battle to get anything like this done.

The FS plan for the CNF calls for 7% ESH.  Right now there is less than 1%.
