Old and busted, new hotness.

Rosie the lab turned 14 yesterday, Ruby the setter turned 7 months, also yesterday. Rosie resents her retirement and she can hardly walk anymore. Ruby hasn't quite figured out that she's a bird dog yet and never walks anywhere.

Feel your pain.  My Golden will be 13 soon and its rough taking her for a stroll around the neighborhood, but she is always at the front door ready to go wagging her tail.

My old girl is 12 and slowing down.  That's OK as long as she stays healthy which she has. She is not happy happy when she sees the other dog go and she stays home.

Nothing quite like an old dog, who know every nuance of your emotions and who has been there, done that with you.  Nothing like a young dog bursting with enthusiasm and energy to experience his world.

 I guess I just like dogs…

Nice pair, please give ‘em an ear rub for me.

Rosie the lab has been my primary canine model for all of her 14 years. Below was her first published image as "Miss December" in the Plexidor Calendar way back in 2007, and her latest image in the current issue of Our Wisconsin Magazine. It took her a while to develop the patience to sit still for my photography, but eventually she learned to tolerate, if not actually like it. I think she figured out that the more she cooperated, the sooner we'd get back to hunting. I hope Ruby follows suit and becomes the new "Miss December" somewhere!
