STORM II

Recommended Posts

Made it home from Prescott yesterday afternoon. My wife was right, very deep snow on the ground! The very light, powdery snow is about waist level (I'm 5'8").

Doesn't bother me in the least to drive in it, but with the number on S Cal transplants in the area, a little defensive driving is the order of the day!

But in any case, call me with the gunsafe combination before you leave.  In case of the worst, I want to be able to squire the 21 to safety before Tim shows up with his sob story about how you wanted him to have it.

Tony, I'm truely hurt. Not even sorta intrested that old clunker. it's all you. Just make sure the Merk gets put aside for me, and not the mossie

10" and snowing again.......I guess the storm has another 1-3" to give me.....nice.

41 year old snowblower fired up on the second pull and cleared the driveway nicely.

Nancy wants to head off to the mall while everyone is whigging out.......interesting.

I like winter so I can't complain about this........I figure this second wave of snow will amount to about 1" extra.  Looks pretty, until it stars to melt then it looks like crap.

More on its way tomorrow, looks like NH and Maine are going to get drilled.

Watching the local weather map this morning the color coding for snow accumulation for my area is in the 4" range. Not bad.

Hope that's all we get. I suspect there will be plenty more in the months ahead.

Hey Larry, I remember your picture from last year, just cold here and I can see the grass in most places in the backyard. If it makes you feel better, we've had a couple feet in the last month and a half, but it melts inbetween snow storms.

5" or so now and coming down slow and steady. Started a couple hours ago. Supposed to get 10"+- here in Central ME to end tomorrow sometime. But gonna be windy with drifting snow so will be hard to gauge.

Yo-Lars--you have snowshoes? We'll need them if we get out next week on the quest.

Spent most of Saturday plodding thru 10" of fluffy stuff in search of venison with 4 other nuts.(We did see 2 elusive NJ. grouse). No shots fired but we all were glad to call it an early afternoon. Another 2 inches and rain today leaving a crust on top.

Between Friday and today we got about 14" total and now we are getting freezing rain and sleet and everything is crusting up......should be a crapshow to drive to work tomorrow.

I love winter thought....I really do  :D

That 4" I mentioned earlier..forget it. Latest best guess is 12-18. I keep a ruler on my back deck to gauge the snow amount but because of the winds its all drifted up on the other side. No snow on the ruler.  Snowmobilers having fun racing up and down the road.

Yes sir I have snowshoes. Just have to break trail to the shed to get 'em!  Scoped sighted .22 shorts and lightweight binoculars for scouting tree limbs?  :<img src=:'>

Work slows down for me for the next two weeks so usually I try to sneak up to the Forks for a couple days , chasing the bird . I can't remember having this much snow up there before Christmas . Sadly , I will be taking the bride shopping in Boston tomorrow instead of watching my dogs work and me miss a few . Has this weather ruined the last few days for anyone else or has everyone in the northeast put their guns away ? I guess it's time to shoot the duck .

You are right Lars we appear to be getting walloped. I would guess a foot at least so far and coming down steady. I was just out shoveling and uncovering the vehicles to try and catch up and there was lightening and thunder and wind. Weird stuff.

.22 shorts? Now you wouldn't think I would suggest we walk some logging roads at dusk looking for budding biddies would you? That would be just wrong.:<img src=:'>

I'm gonna shut down the 'puter rather than rely on sleep mode. Hate for any surges to knock it down overnight.

Nighty night...
